Florida Seals News Release
[KISSIMMEE, Fla.] -The Florida Seals camp roster is shaping up with Head Coach Tommy Stewart extending two more invites for this October. Rookies Matt Hansen and Justin Wise will be in Central Florida this fall.
Hansen starts his professional career after a highly successful run at Concordia College (Minn.). The Fargo, N.D. native played in 99 collegiate games scoring 70 points (35G, 36A) and amassing 199 penalty minutes. During his last three years as a Cobber the forward led his team in scoring.
"I expect him to be a very intense player for the Seals up front," said Head Coach Tommy Stewart, "He was an Assistant Captain at Concordia and I expect him to be one of the more experienced rookies on the ice."
Joining Hansen at camp is Justin Wise. Wise, another forward, hails from Langley, B.C. and is expected to be one of the top rookie offensive players in the Southern Professional Hockey League.
Wise spent three years in the Manitoba Junior Hockey League. He played 164 games for Southeast Blades and Winkler Flyers. The forward netted 94 goals and 122 assists, totaling 236 points. The 6'1", 180-pounder should pay dividends on the ice immediately for the Seals organization.
"Justin comes very highly recommended to me by a few coaches," said Stewart, "He is a very gifted athlete who has a knack for the net."
The signings bring the Seals camp roster to 11 players. Stewart continues to talk to former and new players on a regular basis. He expects to have close to 25 camp invitees.
Get ready for the home opener Saturday, October 29 at the Silver Spurs Arena. The puck will drop for the first ever hockey game in the arena at 7:35 pm versus the Jacksonville Barracudas.
