
Ice Bears Outlast Fayetteville

Knoxville, TN Zoltan Hetenyi made 25 saves and the Knoxville Ice Bears held off the Fayetteville Marksmen 3-1 at the Knoxville Civic Coliseum on Friday night. The Ice Bears snapped a two-game skid. Fayetteville has now lost six straight.
Gehrett Sargis struck first for Knoxville at 2:33 of the first. Sargis, who was signed by Knoxville on Tuesday, scored on a one-timer from Lawrence Cornellier's pass in the slot.
Berkley Scott scored his first of the season with a wrister from the left circle at 2:17 of the second that beat Michael Santaguida high. Jake Hauswirth scored from the right face-off dot four minutes later when his shot bounced between the pads of Hetenyi.
Hetenyi stopped a flurry of shots late in the third period, including a one-timer from close distance that he deflected with the glove.
Knoxville's power play continued to struggle, going 0-5 on the evening. The Ice Bears are 0-18 with the man advantage in their last three games. Fayetteville finished 0-6 on the power play.
Danny Cesarz added an empty-netter with 46 seconds remaining to seal Knoxville's win.
Knoxville next heads to Roanoke on Saturday. The Marksmen travel to Macon on Saturday to take on the Mayhem.
