EVANSVILLE FALLS 4-1 TO PEORIA, DESPITE HEAVY SHOT ADVANTAGE

After taking three of four games on the road, the Thunderbolts returned home to take on the Peoria Rivermen Friday, Nov. 17. The Thunderbolts would lead the shot count 37 to 24, with a 19-4 advantage in the 2nd period. However, Eric Levine would lead the way in net for Peoria, to a 4-1 win for the Rivermen.

Following an Evansville power play, Peoria would come down on a 3 on 2, and after Dakota Klecha got the puck on goal, with Tomas Sholl making the save, Nick Miglio would cash in on the rebound to put Peoria up 1-0 at the 6:08 mark, with Nick Neville also picking up an assist. Connor Gorman would score for Peoria once again with 2:00 left, from Cody Dion and Joseph Widmar to make it 2-0.

Evansville would come out blasting in the 2nd period, outshooting Peoria by almost the widest of margins and only allowing Peoria four shots all period. On their fifth power play, Evansville was finally able to beat Levine, as Cory Melkert would take a pass from Mark Petaccio, blasting the shot through Levine, making it a 2-1 game with 2:56 left in the 2nd period. Evansville would pound away from here and Justin MacDonald nearly tied it after hitting the post in the final minute, but the luck simply would not go Evansville's way.

That trend would continue in the 3rd period, as the Bolts would continue to pepper Levine with shots, but couldn't get the puck past him again. A penalty to Lee Christensen would put Peoria on the power play, and only 10 seconds in, Connor Gorman would tip in a shot from Dave Pszenyczny to make it 3-1 - Widmar also assisting on the goal at 5:22. Head coach Jeff Pyle would pull Sholl with about 2 minutes left for one last attempt, however Mike Gurtler would score the empty netter to cap off the scoring with 55 seconds left, Alec Hagaman and Neville assisting.
