
Ice Bears Handle Snakes

Knoxville, TN - The Knoxville Ice Bears got back on the winning track in front of a rolling and thunderous crowd of 3,517 against the Columbus Cottonmouths.
Knoxville started the period with a ferocious forecheck that resulted in an early goal. Dan Bremner hit Jon Higgins with a cross ice pass. Higgins wristed a one-time opportunity past the glove of Columbus goaltender Andrew Loewen for an early 1-0 lead.
The Ice Bears continued to pressure the Columbus zone and that gave Knoxville another scoring opportunity of which thaey took advantage. Emery Olauson led a break into the Cottonmouths' zone and sent the puck over to the point where Nate Peterson was waiting. Peterson sent a low shot through traffic and it found the back of the net for a Knoxville 2-0 lead.
Knoxville continued to up the pressure in the second period with another goal, this time short-handed. The Ice Bears broke out three-on-two. Bremner crashed the right side of the net and sniped the puck past Loewen for Knoxville's third unanswered goal.
Columbus pulled within two with an even strength goal late in the second. John Sullivan skated in and wristed a shot past Bryan Hince to make the score 3-1 Knoxville after two.
The third period started with a Knoxville penalty which put Columbus on its third power play of the night. The Cottonmouths capitalized on the opportunity with Sullivan's second goal of the night.
Eric Satim answered with a goal of his own to put Knoxville back up by two. Satim stole the puck in the defensive zone and skated it all the way down the ice and undressed Loewen on the backhand. The puck hit the back of the net before a Cottonmouth defender knocked the net off the moorings.
The Ice Bears will be back on home ice next Friday, March 22 for the final home regular season game of the year. Come out for Bachelor/Bachelorette night featuring a kissing booth with Chilly. Puck drops at 7:35 call and reserve your seats now as space is limited.
