Ice Bears Fall to Havoc

Knoxville, TN - (March 20, 2014) The Knoxville Ice Bears were back in the Civic Coliseum to host the Huntsville Havoc after a loss in Fayetteville on Tuesday. A crowd of 2,732 Knoxville hockey fans attended the $1,000 Thursday game in support of Skating Dead/Zombie Night. The Ice Bears were unable to recover from early goals in the first and second period. Despite the loss, Knoxville retains the sixth seed.

Huntsville jumped out to an early lead when Dominic Osman slipped behind the Ice Bears defense and one-timed a cross-ice pass from Justin Alonzo. Ice Bears registered only five shots during the opening period and trailed after 20 minutes of play 1-0.

The second period started with Knoxville killing off a penalty. Bryan Hince was whistled for delay of game with 13 seconds remaining in the first period. After a successful penalty kill, Huntsville increased their lead when Justin Cseter was the late man in the zone and buried the puck between the legs of Hince off a rebound from shots from Mike Gurtler and Sam Cannata.

Knoxville finally got on the board in the third period when Berkley Scott skated the puck from behind the Ice Bears net through the entire Huntsville line up and wristed a shot through the legs Havoc net minder Kevin Genoe.

With just over two minutes remaining in play, Hince was pulled from the goal for the extra attacker. Despite the man advantage, Huntsville buried an empty net goal to seal the Knoxville's fate 3-1.

The Ice Bears hit the road on Friday for the final away game of the regular season when they play the Mississippi RiverKings. The game can be heard live on www.wkvl.com at 8:05 pm. On Saturday, the Ice Bears play their final regular season game which features Bike Night and Fan Appreciation Night.
