Knoxville Ice Bears News Release
Knoxville, TN - The Knoxville Ice Bears fell to the Peoria Rivermen 9-3 at the Knoxville Civic Coliseum.
Knoxville Ice Bears surrendered five goals in the first period to set the tone for the evening. Peoria's Ben Oskroba started the scoring with a 4-3 power play goal at 7:06 of the period. Josh Harris, Dennis Sicard, Alex Hudson and Dan Bremner rounded out the scoring for the first 20 minutes of play.
The Ice Bears looked to rattle off another repeat performance from last Thursday when they rallied from two three goal deficits to defeat the Huntsville Havoc 9-7. After Peoria scored their sixth goal of the game, Knoxville rattled off three unanswered markers by Francis Drolet, Ben Power and Drolet again to cut the lead in half the end of the second period - the first of which had donated teddy bears rain down on the ice surface for the Ice Bears annual Teddy Bear Toss.
Peoria made sure there wasn't any hope of a comeback when Alex Hagaman scored at 4:39 of the final frame. Jake Task and Michael McCann notched the eighth and ninth goals of the game.
Knoxville travels to Fayetteville to round out the three games in three nights. The game can be seen live on www.sphllive.com or by joining fans at Casual Pint Northshore for the official team viewing party. For more information, visit www.knoxvilleicebears.com or call (865) 525-7825.
