SOUTHAVEN, Miss. -- The Mississippi RiverKings (3-4-1) scored 26 second into the first period and never looked back as they cruised to a 7-2 win over the Louisiana IceGators (5-5-0) at the Landers Center Friday night. The start of the game was pushed back over an hour and a half because the IceGators bus broke down on the way to Southaven.

After the delayed start the RiverKings wasted little time jumping ahead of the IceGators. Matt Harrington found a loose puck and spun one past goalie Marco De Filippo just 26 seconds in for a 1-0 lead. Leo Thomas and Matt Whitehead got assists on the play. The IceGators brief bright spot came when they tied the game at one at 5:49. Tanner Burton blasted a one-timer past Peter Di Salvo to even the game.

That lasted for just 18 seconds because Whitehead came right back the other way on the next shift and put the RiverKings back ahead with his fourth goal of the season. Thomas and Harrington got assists. A few minutes later Bryon Paulazzo put the RiverKings ahead by two at 9:21. Paul Clancy and Paul Ciarelli got assists as De Filippo was replaced in goal by Andrew Flemming.

In the second the RiverKings built on the lead when Ciarelli snapped a shot into the top corner past Flemming for his first professional goal. After the IceGators got one back the RiverKings scored the next two in the second period. Sean Jones finished a net-mouth scramble for his first goal of the season with four minutes to play. Then with about 27 seconds left Whitehead raced in on a breakaway and beat Flemming for a 6-2 lead heading to the third.

The only goal in the third came on a 2-on-0 breakaway for the RiverKings. Matt Wray passed to Justin Gvora, who converted for a 7-2 lead. It was Wray's first professional point.

The RiverKings outshot the IceGators 43-37. Di Salvo, who ended with 35 saves, has won his last three starts.
