Ice Bears Extend Winning Streak to Three

Knoxville, TN - The Knoxville Ice Bears defeated the Mississippi RiverKings 4-1 on their home opener at the Civic Coliseum.

The Knoxville Ice Bears jumped on to the score sheet early when Tyler Kline ripped one past RiverKing net minder Adam Courchaine at 5:47 of the first period.

The Ice Bears extended their lead at 10:37 of the first period when Joe Tolles scored on the power play off a tic-tac-toe play from Ryan Salvis, Francis Drolet. The RiverKings climbed on the board when Matt Harrington scored at 17:50 when the puck trickled past the pad of Bryan Hince and the goal post.

Ben Power finished off the scoring in the third period when he scored off a penalty shot at 13:05 when he was pulled down from behind and an empty netter with :44 second remaining on in the game. As the game was winding down, Mississippi's Matt Wray engaged in shenanigans when he accosted David Segal with six second remaining in the game. Wray received 17 minutes in penalties when he was assessed an instigator, fighting major and a game misconduct.
