Austin Ice Bats News Release

(Austin, TX) - It was a split weekend for the Austin Ice Bats, who saw their six game win streak snapped in Odessa. However at the end of everything the Bats emerged still trailing Corpus Christi by just four points for the final playoff spot in the Southern Conference.

Friday night the Bats jumped out to a 3-0 lead over the Texas Brahmas, and were able to hold off a third period rush to win 3-2. Mike Bartlett, Brendan Cook, and Taylor Raszka all scored for the Ice Bats. Doug Groenestege made 39 saves.

Saturday night the Bats traveled to Odessa to take on the Jackalopes in the Ector County Coliseum. A place the Bats had not won all year, and that trend continued. Mike Barlett's goal tied the game at 1-1 at the end of the first, but the remainder of the game belonged to the Jacks, who scored three goals in the first 5:30 of the second period en route to a 5-1 victory.

The Ice Bats are the AA Affiliate for the NHL's Minnesota Wild and the AHL's Houston Aeros (AAA). The team is currently playing its 12th season in Austin. Single game tickets and mini-plans are available by calling 512-927-7825 or visiting icebats.com.
