YOUNGSTOWN, OHIO - The Youngstown SteelHounds are very pleased to announce that defenseman Jeff Alcombrack will be released from an area hospital today. The Hounds assistant captain suffered an injury during the first period during Friday night's game against the Rocky Mountain Rage.

Alcombrack, 28, was involved in a play in the Hounds zone when he hit the ice and slid headfirst into the goal post. Play was stopped for 22 minutes as Alcombrack was being attended to on the ice. He did regain consciousness before being taken to an area medical facility.

A CAT scan on Saturday showed that Alcombrack's condition had stabilized and that there was no swelling. Alcombrack's return date is uncertain; however he does plan on returning to the team in time for the playoffs.

"I have some soreness in my neck but other than that I feel ok," said Alcombrack. "I just need to take my time and rest and I would like to make it back in time to finish the regular season."

Alcombrack has eight goals and 23 assists in 37 games for the Hounds this season. The sixth year pro out of Kincardine, Ontario is in his third season as a Hound. He has played all of his 299 professional games in the Central Hockey League recording 35 goals and 124 assists while spending time in Memphis, New Mexico, Odessa and Austin. His 31 points are tops amongst Hounds defensemen.

The SteelHounds return to the road this week when they take on the Odessa Jackalopes on Friday night at 8:05. All SteelHounds games are available on ESPN Radio 1240 and SteelHounds.com.
