
Hutter Named IronBirds Most Valuable Player

Aberdeen, MD- IronBirds' shortstop Joel Hutter has been named the 2012 IronBirds Most Valuable Player. The 10th round pick by the Baltimore Orioles in the 2012 MLB Draft out of Dallas Baptist University, Hutter currently leads the IronBirds with 15 doubles, 28 RBI, and 62 hits. Hutter has been the IronBirds' shortstop since opening day and was selected to the 2012 New York-Penn League All Star Game in Mahoning Valley, OH.
Joel Hutter is the 11th player in IronBirds' history named team MVP. Other notable IronBirds' MVPs include OF Nick Markakis (2003), OF Matt Angle (2007), LHP Rick Zagone (2008), and INF Ty Kelly (2009).
A native of Davenport, IA, Hutter finished his senior season at Dallas Baptist with a .338 batting average and 11 home runs. Hutter's 72 RBI were tied for fifth-most in the NCAA. Following the 2012 campaign, Hutter was named a Second Team All-American by the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association.
