NORWICH-1B Jake Stewart (2-4) executed a safety squeeze up the third base line in the 10th inning to give the Connecticut Tigers (34-38) a 3-2 win over the Lowell Spinners (34-39) in the final home game of the 2012 season.

The Tigers finish with a record of 21-16 at home and now head to Staten Island to finish off the final three games of the 2012 season.

The Tigers scored two runs in the third inning. Stewart tripled and was cut down at home plate on a fielder's choice hit into by 3B Tyler Hanover (0-4). LF Danry Vasquez (2-4) followed by hitting a two-run home run, just his second home run of the year, to make it 2-0.

The Spinners scored a run in the eighth inning. SS Mike Miller (1-4) reached on a single and went to second base on a walk issued to CF Jose Colorado (0-4). DH Deven Marrero (2-4) sacrificed both runners into scoring position with a bunt.

Miller scored on a groundout by 1B Jake Davies (0-5) to cut the lead to 2-1.

In the ninth inning LF Aneury Tavarez (1-4) doubled and scored on a double by RF Kevin Heller (1-3) for a 2-2 tied score.

In the 10th inning 2B Jordan Dean (1-4) doubled and went to third base on a sacrifice bunt by C Timothy Remes (0-3). Stewart pushed a bunt up the first base line to score Dean from third base for a 3-2 walk-off win.

The Tigers head to Staten Island to take on the Yankees beginning Monday at 7:05 p.m. RHP Eric Heckaman (1-2, 3.41) gets the start for the Tigers while LHP Tim Flight (1-5, 5.40) gets the start for Staten Island. The Connecticut Tigers are the Class-A affiliate of the Detroit Tigers and play in the New York-Penn League.
