
Hustle suffer cold fourth quarter, fall to Clippers

The Memphis Hustle fell to the Agua Caliente Clippers of Ontario 122-116 on Friday night at Landers Center. After shooting 52.3 percent from the field and 61.5 percent from three through the first three quarters, the Hustle managed to shoot just 35.7 percent overall and 11.1 percent from beyond the arc in the final frame.
After the Clippers took a nine-point lead in the second quarter, the Hustle slowly chipped away at the lead and would regain their own on a J.J. Frazier three at 69-67 with 8:22 remaining in the third quarter. The Hustle would keep the lead through the third quarter before the Clippers took control in the fourth.
J.J. O'Brien (31 points) and Ike Iroegbu (29 points) combined for 60 points to lead the Clippers. O'Brien scored 13 of his 31 in the fourth quarter and grabbed seven rebounds for the game. Iroegbu shot 9-of-15 from the field to go with four rebounds and four assists. Dakarai Allen (11 points, 12 rebounds) recorded a double-double and tallied a season-high for rebounds. LaDontae Henton (16 points) and Keith Steffeck (13 points) also reached double figures.
Jeremy Morgan led the Hustle with career highs in points (23), rebounds (9) and three-pointers made (5-of-8). Kobi Simmons followed suit with 22 points on 7-of-12 shooting. Omari Johnson posted 16 points and six rebounds. Two-way player Myke Henry and Marquis Teague added 14 points apiece. Teague dished a game-high seven assists and Henry knocked down 3-of-5 three-point attempts. Frazier made his Hustle debut, scoring five points to go with three assists and two rebounds in 12 minutes of play.
The Hustle will embark on a two-game road trip prior to the All-Star Break, beginning with a Sunday matinee matchup on NBA TV against the Grand Rapids Drive at noon at Deltaplex Arena and Conference Center. The Hustle return home on Wednesday, February 21 at 7 p.m. when the team takes on the Northern Arizona Suns at Landers Center. Tickets are still available and start for as low as $10.
