Troy Williams Lifts Vipers over Wolves

Hidalgo, Texas - The NBA G League's Rio Grande Valley Vipers, proud affiliate of the Houston Rockets, defeated Iowa Wolves at home by a score of 119-101.

Troy Williams led both teams in scoring with 30 points. Williams also had 11 rebounds in the game. RGV's Chris Walker had a double-double with 15 points and 11 rebounds. Anthony Brown finished the night as Iowa's leading scorer with 24 points.

Wolves' Anthony Brown was off to a great start in the game. Brown finished the first quarter with 12 points. Shawne Williams added another 11 points off the bench to help the Wolves finish the first quarter with a 30-34 lead. Iowa held a nine-point lead over Rio Grande Valley at one point in the quarter.

Troy Williams helped the Vipers even out the game in the second quarter. Rio Grande Valley's Troy Williams and Iowa's Justin Patton both scored nine points in the second quarter. Production from the Vipers' bench helped Rio Grande Valley tie the game at halftime.

Troy Williams kept his hot hand throughout the third quarter, scoring 10 of the Vipers' 34 points. After 10 lead changes in the third quarter, the Vipers entered the final quarter of the game with a slight lead of 93-89.

Defense helped the RGV Vipers secure the home win. The Iowa Wolves had 22.7 percent shooting in the closing quarter, going 5-of-22. Rio Grande Valley was able to extend their lead to 18 points as they secured their second win in the month of February.

The RGV Vipers will play host to the Austin Spurs on Saturday, February 10 before taking on Oklahoma City Blue on Tuesday, February 13.
