Cape Breton Eagles News Release

NOTES FROM THE GAME

- The Rouyn-Noranda Huskies jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the opening period and didn't look back in a 4-1 victory over the Cape Breton Eagles.

- Antonin Verreault paced the Huskies attack with a goal & two assists, while Emeric Gaudet, Jérémy Langlois, and Mathis Perron also scored for Rouyn-Noranda. Olivier Houde countered for the Eagles.

- Langlois, the former Eagles captain, was honoured for playing his 200th game in the QMJHL.

- Recalled forward Charles-Antoine Lavallée remained with the Eagles, playing his second game for Cape Breton and his 100th in the QMJHL.

- William Rousseau stopped 20 of 21 shots in the win in the Huskies net, while Nicolas Ruccia stopped 30 of 34 in the loss.

It was a quick paced first period, played almost entirely five on five except for a minor penalty to Rouyn-Noranda's Alex Carr late. Gaudet got the scoring started at 12:41 as he attempted to pass to the front of the net, the pass bounced back to him and he was able to flip the puck by Ruccia for the opening goal. Verreault also scored in the opening frame to make it 2-0 at the first break.

After another scoreless ten minutes to open the middle stanza, Langlois found a rebound at the right side of the net to give his side a 3-0 lead. The Eagles did pushback, as Houde's goal came in the aftermath of the power play as he also scored from the right side of the goal. However, Perron's goal less than a minute later would be the final score of the game for either side.
