Hurricanes Trade Klassen to Spokane

LETHBRIDGE, AB - The Lethbridge Hurricanes Hockey Club announced Wednesday that they have traded goaltender Reece Klassen to the Spokane Chiefs in exchange for a seventh round draft pick in the 2020 Western Hockey League Bantam Draft.

Klassen, 19, was signed by the Hurricanes in 2017 after being undrafted in the Bantam Draft. The product of Cloverdale, BC appeared in 49 regular season games as a Hurricane over parts of two seasons posting a 16-12-7-3 record along with a 3.59 goals against average (GAA) and an .889 save percentage (SV%). So far this season, Klassen has posted an 11- 4-4-3 record in 26 appearances with a 3.57 GAA and an .891 SV%.

The move for the Hurricanes comes after the team acquired 1999-born goaltender Liam Hughes yesterday from the Seattle Thunderbirds. The 'Canes now have 21 players on their roster, including 12 forwards, seven defenseman and two goaltenders.

The Hurricanes return to action tonight as they visit the Red Deer Rebels at 7:00pm. The 'Canes will return to the ENMAX Centre on Friday when they welcome the Vancouver Giants.
