Warriors' Tracey Named WHL Rookie of the Month

Calgary, Alta. - The Western Hockey League announced today that 2019 NHL Draft prospect Brayden Tracey of the Moose Jaw Warriors has been named WHL Rookie of the Month for December 2018.
Tracey recorded 14 points (5G-9A) and a plus-four rating in 11 games during December as the Warriors went 6-3-2-0 during the month to remain in third place in the East Division and fourth in the WHL's Eastern Conference.
A product of Calgary, Alta., Tracey recorded four multi-point games, including one three-point game. That game came on New Year's Eve as Tracey recorded a natural hat trick, the first of his WHL career, against the Brandon Wheat Kings.
During the month, the 6-foot-0, 174-pound forward posted 10 points (3G-7A) at even strength with four points (2G-2A) coming on the power play. Tracey also picked up a pair of game-winning goals during the month. Tracey was twice named the first star of the game and was once named the WHL's first star of the night. Among all WHL rookies, Tracey sits first in assists and points while ranking second in goals.
Tracey has taken the WHL by storm in his rookie season, posting 38 points (14G-24A), including three power-play goals and three game-winning goals in 34 games. He was originally selected by the Warriors in the first round, 21st overall, at the 2016 WHL Bantam Draft. He has appeared in 39 games over the course of his WHL career, posting 40 points (14G-26A). He's also appeared in a pair of games during the 2018 WHL Playoffs.
Internationally, Tracey has also represented Canada, winning a silver medal at the 2017 World Under-17 Hockey Challenge. He's also represented Alberta at the 2016 WHL Cup, winning a gold medal. The 17-year-old has been identified by NHL Central Scouting for selection at the 2019 NHL Draft, giving him a 'C' rating on their updated 'Players to Watch' List in November 2018.
Tracey and the Warriors return to action in 2019 when they take on the Prince Albert Raiders at the Art Hauser Centre Friday, January 4 (7:00 p.m. CT).
