
Hurricanes Rout Highlanders for Fifth-Straight Win

The Hurricanes capped off a very successful March Break with a big 117-91 win over the Cape Breton Highlanders at Scotiabank Centre on Sunday afternoon for their fifth win in a row.
Jordan Washington dominated the first half for Halifax, putting up 15 points, 13 of which came in the first quarter, and making his presence felt on defence and getting his teammates involved on offence. He finished with 26 points and five rebounds, one of three Hurricanes to score at least 20 in the game.
Joel Kindred had a game-high 30 points from off the bench, shooting 11-16, including three from deep. He also grabbed seven boards. He secured the Hurricanes win by putting up 12 of his 30 points in an explosive fourth quarter.
Terry Thomas also put up a 12 point quarter in the third, finishing with 21 points.
Tyler Thornton saw big minutes at point guard on Sunday. He scored nine points and dished out a game-high 10 assists.
The Hurricanes dominated the Highlanders in the paint, outscoring them 52-30 down low. Halifax was also able to capitalize off Highlander turnovers, scoring 23 points off Cape Breton mistakes.
The Hurricanes improved to 24-15 on Sunday in front of a season-high 4,473 fas as the regular season winds down. On Thursday, Mar. 28, the Hurricanes cap off their regular season against the Island Storm at 7 p.m.
