Albany River Rats News Release

RALEIGH, NC-Jim Rutherford, President and General Manager of the National Hockey League's Carolina Hurricanes, today announced that the team has reassigned goaltender Justin Peters to the Albany River Rats of the American Hockey League (AHL). Peters was recalled to Carolina on Sunday on an emergency basis as goaltender Manny Legace had to miss the team's 5-1 win against Boston with vision problems.

Peters, 23, has been recalled to the NHL three times in his career, though he has yet to see action in an NHL game. He is 16-11-2 with a 2.38 goals-against average and a.922 save percentage in 30 AHL games for Albany this season. The Blythe, Ont., native played in the 2010 AHL All-Star Classic on Jan. 19, stopping nine of 11 shots during the second period of a 10-9 Canadian AHL All-Stars victory. The Hurricanes' second-round selection, 38th overall, in the 2004 NHL Entry Draft, Peters is 52-62-6 with a 2.84 goals-against average in 131 career AHL games with the River Rats.

Albany continues its four-game road trip this Tuesday at 7:00 p.m. against the Bridgeport Sound Tigers. River Rats 2009-10 pro-rated season and flexible ticket packages are now on sale at the River Rats executive offices at the Times Union Center, by calling (518) 487-2244 or by logging onto www.albanyriverrats.com.
