Hurricanes Reassign Brett Carson to Charlotte

RALEIGH, NC - Jim Rutherford, President and General Manager of the National Hockey League's Carolina Hurricanes, today announced that the team has reassigned defenseman Brett Carson to the Charlotte Checkers of the American Hockey League (AHL). Carson was recalled from the Checkers on Wednesday and played 12:51 in the team's 7-1 win at the RBC Center against the Ottawa Senators.

Carson, 24, has played in three NHL games in 2010-11, averaging 12:39 of ice time per game. In nine AHL games this season with Charlotte, Carson (6'4", 210 lbs.) has earned two assists and posted a plus-1 plus/minus rating. The Regina, Sask., native has played in 62 career NHL regular-season games, and has scored two goals and earned 10 assists (12 points). The Hurricanes drafted Carson in the fourth round, 109th overall, in the 2004 NHL Entry Draft.
