Huntsville's Jesse Kallechy Named Easton Player Of The Week

HUNTERSVILLE, NC (December 4, 2013) - The Southern Professional Hockey League (SPHL) today announced goaltender Jesse Kallechy of the Huntsville Havoc is the Easton Player of the Week for November 25-December 1.

Kallechy went 2-0-0 with one shutout, posting a 0.50 goals against average and .981 save percentage in helping keep the Havoc near the top of the SPHL standings.

On Thursday, the Sherwood Park, Alberta native stopped 23 of 24 shots as Huntsville defeated Columbus 3-1. Kallechy came back even stronger the next night, making 30 saves in a 6-0 whitewash of the Mississippi Surge.

Following a late-season injury to starting netminder Dan McWhinney, Kallechy led the eighth-seeded Havoc on an improbable run to the President's Cup Finals last year. Kallechy posted a 5-3 playoff record, with a 1.81 goals against average and a .950 save percentage in leading Huntsville upset wins over #1 seed Fayetteville and #2 seed Louisiana before falling to Pensacola in the finals. Kallechy currently ranks tied for second in the SPHL with six wins and one shutout and is third with a 2.32 goals against average.
