HUNTSVILLE, AL - Huntsville Havoc head coach, John Gibson, had several tough decisions to make coming out of camp but the Havoc roster has been trimmed for the season opener in Columbus Friday night.
Forwards making the team were James Patterson, Craig Bushey, Dan Buccella, Trevor Karasiewicz, Tristan Senior, Travis Kauffeldt, Mike O'Sullivan, Kyle Sheen, Bobby Siers and Brett Cross.
Defenseman are Gavin Hodgson, Bill McCreary, Tim Hockley, Martin Toms and Adam Wood. Chris Shaw is expected to join the team before the trip to Columbus. He was recently released from the Rocky Mountain Rage of the CHL.
Matt Carmichael returns in net along with newcomer Stephan Siwiec.
Two familiar named were released in forward Luke Phillips and defenseman Jason deGuehery. Also released were Steve Doherty, Troy Maney, Chris Sparkes and Gasper Kroselj.
"As a coach I knew I would have to make tough decisions year in and year out," Gibson said. "When it comes to Jay and Luke they were the two toughest decisions I've had to make in my career. Not only was I their coach but over the years I've developed a great friendship with both. I knew that this would not be the most popular decision with the fans, but it was strictly a business decision. I wish them all the best in their future endeavors."
