Huntsville Havoc News Release
The Huntsville Havoc dropped three games on the road this past week, 4-1 at Jacksonville on Tuesday, 5-3 at Pee Dee on Thursday and 5-4 at Fayetteville on Friday.
Tuesday, December 6 - Huntsville 1, Jacksonville 4 JACKSONVILLE, FL - The Huntsville Havoc dropped a 4-1 decision to the Jacksonville Barracudas on the road Tuesday night. The scored was tied 1-1 at the end of the first period after Geoff Rollins scored for Jacksonville and Tom Phillips added a goal for the Havoc. Jacksonville added two even strength goals in the second period, one by Chris Kovalcik and one by Jason Simon. Kovalcik added an empty net goal late in the third period to finish out the scoring. Matt Carmichael made 26 saves in the loss. He was playing in his fifth game in six nights after joining the Pensacola Ice Pilots of the ECHL the past weekend. Frank Novello recorded the win after recording 32 saves.
Thursday, December 8 - Huntsville 3, Pee Dee 5 FLORENCE, SC - Edan Welch scored with 1:55 left in the third period and and again with :26 left lifting the Pee Dee Cyclones to a 5-3 win over the Huntsville Havoc Thursday night. Tom Phillips, Chris Peach and Bill Monkman scored for Huntsville, who dropped their second straight game after falling to Jacksonville on Tuesday. Matt Carmichael made 20 saves in the loss. He was playing in his sixth game in eight days.
Friday December 9 - Huntsville 4, Fayetteville 5 FAYETTEVILLE, NC - Jeff Antonovich broke a 4-4 tie with 1:59 left in the third period lifting the Fayetteville Fire Antz to a 5-4 win over the Huntsville Havoc Friday night. It was the third straight loss for the Havoc dropping them to an 8-7-1 record. Bill Monkman scored two goals for the Havoc while rookie, Tom Phillips, scored a goal for the third straight game. Forward, Craig Bushey, added his second goal of the season. Corey Wogtech made his second start of the season in goal. He made 24 saves. The Havoc outshot the Fire Antz 42-29.
