Hungry Dogs' Effort Comes Up Short

November 17, 2022 - Ontario Hockey League (OHL)
Niagara IceDogs News Release

The IceDogs left it all on the ice, coming up a goal short falling 3-2 to visiting Saginaw.

In the first game under interim Head Coach Jeff Angelidis, the home side scored the only goal of the opening twenty as Anthony Agostinelli returned from injury to score his first of the year. Pano Fimis and Ryan VanNetten provided the assist help.

Two goals 35 seconds apart in the middle period would give the Spirit a 2-1 advantage. Declan Waddick's 7th with 1:26 left evened things up. Daniel Michaud fed it off the right side boards to the slot and Waddick would do the rest, getting it over the right pad of the Saginaw net-minder. Landon Cato picked up the second helper.

The winner came just over six minutes into the final period on a broken play in front of Owen Flores, who made 31 saves in defeat.

It's a quick turnaround as the Dogs head to Guelph to face the Storm for a Friday night matchup.
