
Humphries, Miller Lead Sports to Doubleheader Sweep

Shreveport-Bossier Captains News Release
The Shreveport Sports remain in the hunt for the South Division first half title in the American Association with a doubleheader sweep over Fort Worth Sunday at Fair Grounds Field.
Deacon Burns singled with two out in the eighth inning in the opener to score Justin Humphries to give the Sports the first game victory 3-2 in extra innings. In the second game, Colby Miller pitched a complete game three-hit shutout as the Sports took the nightcap 5-0.
Shreveport jumped on Fort Worth starter Joel Kirsten for four runs in the first inning highlighted by a three-run home run by Chad Gambill. It was the first sweep of a doubleheader for Shreveport this season and the first shutout recorded by the Sports this year. Shreveport will now go on the road to finish the first half starting with a three-game series Tuesday at El Paso.
The Sports will not return home until July 6th to open up a ten-game home stand. Tuesday nights game at El Paso will start at 8:05 pm with the game to be broadcast on AM 1130, KWKH.
