Sarnia Sting News Release

Sarnia Sting General Manager, Nick Sinclair is pleased to announce that 2nd round pick, Aidan Hughes has agreed to terms on a Standard Player Agreement & Education package with the Hockey Club.

Selected 34th overall by the Sting in the 2015 OHL Priority Selection, Hughes is a towering goaltender who is coming off an excellent season with the London Jr. Knights. In 17 league games last year, Hughes sported a 1.01 goals-against average (GAA) and .942 save-percentage. Hughes' outstanding play continued at the OHL Cup where his 1.67 GAA helped the Jr. Knights reach the semi-finals before being ousted by the OHL Cup Champions, Toronto Marlboros.

The 6'3", 240 lbs netminder was also selected to represent Alliance Hockey in the 2015 OHL Gold Cup where he went 2-0 while maintaining a 1.50 GAA. Most recently, Hughes was invited to attend Hockey Canada's Summer Showcase and take part in the National Under-17 development camp.

Sinclair comments on the Sting's most recent signing, "We are very pleased to welcome Aidan and his family to our organization. He is a player that our scouting staff thought very highly of going into the draft, and we feel he has a very bright hockey future ahead of him. As a group, we look forward to working with Aidan to further his development as a goaltender and young man, both on and off the ice."
