Hudson's Heroics Power Chuks to Victory

IDAHO FALLS, Idaho - The Chukars and Paddleheads squared off at Melaleuca Field for their first of three games over the weekend. It was Jack Dicenso getting the start for the Chukars, while Izzy Fuentes was on the bump for Missoula.

The Chukars had a big first inning in this one. It started with Michael Kohn driving home two runs with his single, and it was later followed by RBI singles from Hunter Hudson, Stephen Cullen, and Bryce Brown. At the end of one inning of play, it was Idaho Falls with the lead 5-0.

Missoula would start their climb back in the top of the second. Keaton Greenwalt picked up an RBI triple to score their first run of the game. It was followed up an inning later with an RBI single from Luis Navarro.

Missoula scored another two runs an inning later thanks to an RBI single from McClain O'Conner and a sacrifice fly from Thomas Debonville. Idaho Falls scored in the bottom half of the frame thanks to a wild pitch. At the end of four innings, Idaho Falls was clinging onto a 6-4 lead.

Missoula tied the game in the seventh thanks to RBI hits from Navarro and Jake Guenther. They took their first lead of the game only an inning later, when McClain O'Conner smashed a two run home run to make it 8-6 heading to the bottom of the eighth.

It was in the bottom of the eighth inning when Hunter Hudson found himself at the plate, with the bases loaded and one gone. He then crushed a double into the right-center field gap to clear the bases, and put the Chukars out in front by a 9-8 score. Anthony Frechette later brought him home on an RBI single, then Jordan Myrow put the nail in the coffin with a three run home run.

The Chukars would end up winning game one by a 14-8 score.

The Paddleheads and Chukars play game two on Saturday evening, with first pitch scheduled for 7:05. The gates at Melaleuca Field will open at 6:00PM.
