Lake Erie Crushers News Release
Avon, OH - According to the American Farm Bureau Federation, the average cost of a Thanksgiving dinner for ten is $44.61; a 5.2% increase from last year's average. With the sluggish economy and money tight, there are many families in dire need of help this holiday season.
Community Resource Services is a local non-profit organization dedicated to assisting families going through tough times, with basic necessities such as food, clothing and even school supplies. This year alone, the organization has helped more than 900 households in the Avon and Avon Lake area. The organization is working extra innings this holiday season to provide Thanksgiving baskets filled with all the trimmings to 50 local families that otherwise may have gone without.
Avon Professional Baseball is pleased to assist in their efforts by providing some extra hands. The front office staff will be at the Community Resource Services location on Thursday, November 20 from 10:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. to distribute the Thanksgiving baskets and to help sort incoming food donations.
"We are excited to roll up our sleeves and pitch in," said General Manager Ryan Gates, "This summer we hope fans come out and rally around our team but right now it is time for us to rally around our community."
Community Resource Services is always looking for monetary support and in-kind donations for their food pantry. Their offices and food pantry is located at 33501-L Lake Road in Avon Lake, behind the Avon Lake Post Office. For more information on their services or how you can help, visit www.aalcrs.org or call 440-933-5639.
