River City Rascals News Release
O'FALLON, MO - The River City Rascals have announced the promotion of Assistant General Manager Chris Franklin to Executive Vice President and General Manager effective immediately.
Franklin began in River City; the O'Fallon based professional baseball team who competes in the Independent Frontier League, in the 2006 off-season when he worked as the Director of Ticket Sales. He joined the Rascals after serving in the front office of the Joliet JackHammers of the Independent Northern League.
In the 2007 off-season Franklin received his first promotion inside his new organization as he was named as the Assistant General Manager and in 2008 Franklin received another promotion adding Vice President of the organization to his title.
"Chris is deserving of the opportunity to be the Rascals' General Manager and I truly feel he will be one of the best General Managers in the Frontier League if not all of minor league baseball," said Rascals team President Steve Malliet.
"I am extremely excited about the opportunity I have with the River City Rascals," Franklin said. "Our ownership group has allowed me to grow with this organization and I look forward to working with our current front office staff and our new Manager, Chad Parker, on building an all-around quality product for St. Charles County."
"Chris is an outstanding baseball executive and he has put his heart and soul into helping rebuild the River City Rascals club," said outgoing Executive Vice President and General Manager Jamie Toole. "As tough of a decision as it was to leave the Rascals, it is a little easier knowing that Chris Franklin is going to be running the daily operations and insuring the long term success of the Rascals."
Toole resigned his position as Executive Vice President and General Manager based on family issues. "A series of events in our personal lives have led our family to this decision to relocate closer to our extended family," said Toole.
"We certainly hate to see Jamie go but appreciate him and his family's desire to be closer to home and support his decision to pursue other interests in professional baseball," said Rascals team President Steve Malliet.
The River City Rascals are members of the Independent Frontier League and can be contacted at (636) 240-BATS and found online at www.rivercityrascals.com.
