Houston Dynamo FC News Release
HOUSTON (Friday, Aug. 15, 2014) - The Houston Dynamo meet the Philadelphia Union tonight at 8 p.m. CT at BBVA Compass Stadium. Tickets are available at www.HoustonDynamo.com, by calling 713-276-GOAL, or by visiting the BBVA Compass Stadium box office (2200 Texas St., Houston).
Tonight's game will be broadcast live on the NBC Sports Network and can be heard on Yahoo Sports Radio 1560 AM and 850 AM (Spanish).
Tonight's game against Philadelphia begins a span of 12 consecutive games against Eastern Conference rivals to complete the regular season.
The Dynamo are 6-12-4 (22 points) and in ninth place in the Eastern Conference after a 2-0 loss at Seattle on Sunday.
The Union is 6-8-9 (27 points) and tied for fifth in the East. Philadelphia secured a 2-1 home win over Montreal on Saturday before defeating FC Dallas in a penalty shootout on Tuesday in the semifinals of the U.S. Open Cup.
The Dynamo and Union played to a scoreless draw at PPL Park on April 19. The clubs meet again in Philadelphia on Sept. 20.
Philadelphia acquired Colombian center back Carlos Valdes, a 2014 World Cup veteran, on Aug. 4. Valdes returns to the Union after two previous years with the club (2011-12) and earning MLS All-Star honors in 2012.
The Union overhauled its midfield in the offseason, acquiring U.S. national team midfielder and 2010 World Cup veteran Maurice Edu. The club also added French midfielder Vincent Nogueira and Argentine midfielder Christian Maidana (8 assists) to the squad.
Then in April, the club traded Jack McInerney, who led Philadelphia with 12 goals in 2013, to Montreal in exchange for Andrew Wenger, the No. 1 pick in the 2012 MLS SuperDraft. French forward Sebastien Le Toux leads Philadelphia with 10 goals this year.
Following tonight's game, the Dynamo visit the Columbus Crew on Saturday, Aug. 23. The Dynamo return home on Saturday, Sept. 6 to host the Montreal Impact.
