
Houston Dynamo Football Club Hire Craig Devine as Director of Sports Medicine

HOUSTON - Houston Dynamo Football Club hired Craig Devine as the Director of Sports Medicine, the Club announced today. Devine will oversee all operations and staff for the first team, Houston Dash, Dynamo 2 and Dynamo Academy medical teams.
"Craig is an experienced medical practitioner who will be invaluable in the development and management of our club's medical services," Dynamo general manager Pat Onstad said. "We aim to be a club that develops players and staff, and Craig's experience in running MLS medical departments will be valuable to develop up-and-coming athletic trainers while delivering a high level of quality care to our players. We want to welcome Craig, his wife Rita, and their family to Houston."
Devine joins the Club after spending the last five years as the Lead Physical Therapist and Director of Education for the Memorial Hospital of Union County in Marysville, Ohio. The 58-year-old joined the hospital after serving as the head athletic trainer for Columbus Crew SC for three seasons from 2014-2017. He led a team that earned MLS honors as the Training Staff of the Year in 2015.

The Massachusetts native brings more than three decades of experience working with elite athletes and his career in professional sports began with the Columbus Landsharks from the National Lacrosse League in 1999. Devine joined the Crew the following year and spent six seasons leading the athletic training staff till 2006. In that span the Crew won the 2002 Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup and the 2004 Supporters Shield.
Devine began his athletic training career with the U.S. Figure Skating Association in 1992 and attended three World Figure Skating Championships. His experience includes a stint as the Coordinator of Sports Medicine at Riverview Center for Orthopedic Rehabilitation from 1996-2001.
Devine graduated from the University of Lowell with a Bachelor of Science in Physical Therapy. Additionally, he has served as a soccer coach for the women's and men's program at two high schools in Ohio and was most recently a coach with Club Ohio for the 2008 boys' team. He holds the National Diploma from United Soccer Coaches, previously known as the National Soccer Coaches Association of America.
