Houston Dynamo FC News Release
HOUSTON - Houston Dynamo FC announced today the hiring of Aurélien Collin, Tim Hanley and Adin Osmanbasic as the first additions to Ben Olsen's coaching staff. The trio will serve as assistant coaches with Hanley in charge of goalkeepers.
"We are happy to announce the first additions to Ben Olsen's coaching staff for the 2023 season," said Dynamo general manager, Pat Onstad. "Aurélien is a hungry, up-and-coming coach with clear ideas about the game and a history of leading successful MLS teams as a player. Adin is one of the bright young tactical minds in our country, who rose through our youth pathway to earn this opportunity. And Tim is an MLS veteran with a strong history of contributing to winning MLS teams, including here in Houston. As with many of our new hires and new players this offseason, we are adding hungry, values-driven people with a history of winning. And we're not finished, yet."
Collin, 36, transitioned to coaching following his retirement from professional soccer in March 2022. The 2013 MLS Cup winner and finals MVP spent 15 years as a professional player competing across the United States and Europe. Collin also won the 2012 Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup with Sporting Kansas City and finished his career as a three-time MLS All-Star. The French native also won two MLS Supporters' Shields during his stints with the New York Red Bulls and Philadelphia Union. He competed in the Audi MLS Cup Playoffs in eight of his 11 seasons as a player in Major League Soccer.
Hanley, 62, brings more than three decades of coaching experience and has won four MLS Cup titles as a coach, most recently with Columbus Crew SC in 2020. His third title came in 2006 when he was the goalkeeping coach for the Dynamo in their inaugural season. That was the second MLS Cup the Palo Alto, Calif. native won with Onstad following their 2003 title run with the San Jose Earthquakes. Hanley also served as a coach for the Dynamo from 2009-2014, reaching the MLS Cup Playoffs four times in that stretch. In addition to his work in the professional game, Hanley also coached at the collegiate level from 2002-2005 with the men's program at Stanford University. The Cardinals reached the NCAA College Cup final in his first year with the team in 2002.
Osmanbasic, 28, spent two seasons as the head coach of the Dynamo Academy U-17 team before his promotion to the first team. He joined the Dynamo in 2021 from Atlanta United, where he served as the Head of Development Analysis for the academy and supported the ATLUTD 2 technical staff. Osmanbasic began his MLS career with the Columbus Crew as a video analyst for the head coach of the U.S. Men's National Team at the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar, Gregg Berhalter. The Atlanta, Georgia native is a long-time contributor to the tactical website Spielverlagerung.com.
