Houston Dynamo FC News Release
HOUSTON (Sunday, May 25, 2014) - The Houston Dynamo meet the San Jose Earthquakes at 9:30 p.m. CT tonight at Buck Shaw Stadium in Santa Clara, Calif. Tonight's game completes a two-city road trip for the Dynamo.
Tonight's game will be broadcast live on CSN Houston (9 p.m. CT pregame show) and can be heard on Yahoo Sports Radio 1560 AM and 850 AM (Spanish).
The Dynamo are 5-6-2 (17 points) and in fourth place place in the Eastern Conference, six points behind conference leading New England Revolution. Houston opened the road trip with a 2-0 loss at D.C. United on Wednesday.
The Earthquakes (2-4-4; 10 points) are in eighth place in the Western Conference following a 1-0 loss at Seattle last Saturday.
Both clubs will be missing players due to international call-ups ahead of the 2014 FIFA World Cup. Dynamo midfielders Brad Davis (United States) and Boniek Garcia (Honduras) are with their national teams at pre-World Cup camps and are unavailable for selection.
The Earthquakes will be without defender Victor Bernardez (Honduras) and forward Chris Wondolowski (United States), who are also with their national teams.
The Dynamo won the only meeting with San Jose last year, a 2-0 home win last March behind goals from Will Bruin and Giles Barnes. Houston has won three consecutive games against San Jose, including a 1-0 win at AT&T Park in San Francisco in March 2012, its last visit to the Bay Area.
The Earthquakes feature defender Clarence Goodson, who was part of the 30-man U.S. national team camp before the roster was reduced to 23 players on Thursday. Goalkeeper Jon Busch has appeared in 273 games in 13 MLS seasons and was named MLS Goalkeeper of the Year in 2008. Texas native Shea Salinas leads San Jose with four assists in 2014 after setting a career high with eight last season.
Following tonight's game, the Dynamo continue the three-game road swing with a visit to the Colorado Rapids next Sunday. The Dynamo return home on Friday, June 6 to host Sporting Kansas City at BBVA Compass Stadium.
