Houston Dash News Release
HOUSTON (Thursday, May 14, 2015) - The Houston Dash host the Chicago Red Stars tomorrow at BBVA Compass Stadium at 7:30 p.m. CT. Tickets are available at HoustonDashSoccer.com, by calling (713) 276-GOAL, or at the stadium box office from 9 a.m. until kickoff. Head coach Randy Waldrum and the Dash will purchase a 12 oz. domestic draft beer for the first 1,000 fans age 21 and older at Friday's match. Gates open at 6:30 p.m.
Friday's game will be broadcast live via YouTube at HoustonDashSoccer.com/live, and by tape delay on ROOT SPORTS on Sunday, May 17 at 5 p.m. Game notes for the Dash are attached.
The Dash (1-2-1, 4 points) enter the match coming off a bye week looking to end a two-match losing streak after falling to FC Kansas City 2-0 on May 2. Friday marks the probable return of midfielder Brittany Bock, who suffered from a torn ACL in the opening minutes of last year's inaugural match. It is also the first match for new defender Toni Pressley, acquired in a trade with the Western New York Flash earlier this week.
Chicago (3-0-1, 13 points) comes to Houston boasting an undefeated record and the top spot in the league standings after opening the season with a four-match homestand. The Red Stars defeated the Boston Breakers 3-0 at Toyota Park last Saturday with rookie forward Sofia Huerta netting two goals and an assist en route to garnering NWSL Player of the Week honors.
With the absence of all six U.S. and Canadian internationals, the Dash have called up six players with the NWSL's amateur call-up mechanism. Goalkeeper Jordan Day, defenders Jen LaPonte and Lauren Silver, midfieldersCami Privett and Jordan O'Brien, and forward Allie Bailey have been added to the 20-player roster and will be available for selection tomorrow.
Following Friday's match, the Dash take two games on the road to Portland Thorns FC and Sky Blue FC on May 23 and 31, respectively. The team returns to Houston for a June 6 match against Portland. Tickets for the match are available by calling (713) 276-GOAL or visiting HoustonDashSoccer.com.
