Houston Dash News Release
HOUSTON - Houston Dash forward Kealia Ohai was named to the NWSL Team of the Month for June, by the NWSL Media Association earlier today.
Since the Team of the Month was first awarded in 2017, this is Ohai's second mention. She previously earned a spot on the team in April 2017. Ohai is the fourth Dash player this season to earn a spot on the Team of the Month, joining GK Jane Campbell (March), DF/FW Rachel Daly (March, May) and MF Kristie Mewis (May). Since the award was founded, six Dash players have combined for nine Team of the Month mentions.
The forward scored two goals in three games in June to lead Houston to a (1-1-1) record. The forward returned to league play on April 22 after recovering from a torn ACL. Since then, the forward has scored three goals and tallied an assist in 10 appearances for the Dash.
Ohai was crucial in Houston's 2-1 come-from-behind victory over Orlando on June 27 scoring the equalizer in the 79th minute and winning a penalty kick in the 83rd that was converted for the game-winning goal by MF Sofia Huerta.
Ohai and the Dash travel to The Emerald City on Saturday to face the second-place Seattle Reign FC at Memorial Stadium. Houston returns to BBVA Compass Stadium at 7:30 p.m. on July 11 to host Alex Morgan, Marta and the Orlando Pride for their final meeting of the regular season. Tickets start at $19 and are available at HoustonDashSoccer.com.
