The Admirals struck first just past the midway point in the first period. C Nick Spaling gathered the puck at the bottom of the right circle and sent a spinning wrister past Dubielewicz for a power play goal at 10:15. Earl answered for Houston at the 17:11 mark. The Aeros' left winger forced his way into the Milwaukee zone stick-handling his way through three defenders before firing a shot top shelf for his seventh marker in an Aeros sweater this season.

After a scoreless middle session, the Admirals opened up the third period with a number of opportunities on the power play. The Aeros began the stanza with three straight penalties against including a Cross Checking double minor assessed to D Brandon Rogers at 5:20, but the penalty kill managed to hold the Admirals off the board. At the 13:36 mark, Houston was given their chance to tally the go-ahead marker when C Dave Scatchard joined RW Hugh Jessiman in the box giving the Aeros a 46-second 5-on-3 man advantage. Unfortunately for the Aeros, they too were held off the board and the game would ultimately go to overtime where Dietrich sealed it 46 seconds in.

The Admirals outshot Houston 28-27 and scored the game's lone power play goal going 1-for-8 on the man advantage. The Aeros' power play was held scoreless going 0-for-6 on the afternoon. Houston finished the season series going 1-5-2-0 against the Admirals.
