Grand Rapids Griffins News Release

WINNIPEG, Manitoba - Another hard-fought battle at the MTS Center ended in a 4-0 win for the Manitoba Moose, bringing the Grand Rapids Griffins' six-game point streak (4-0-1-1) to a halt on Sunday.

Grand Rapids (29-35-3-3) faced quite an obstacle in Cory Schneider, who turned aside 38 shots for his fourth shutout of the campaign, giving Manitoba (34-30-5-1) its first regulation win over Grand Rapids this season.

The Griffins will wrap up a season-high six-game road trip on Thursday when they visit the Milwaukee Admirals for an 8:00 p.m. EDT tilt at the Bradley Center.

The opening period made for a storybook beginning to two young careers. Jordan Schroeder and Kevin Clark were appearing in their professional debuts and they both recorded goals in the opening minutes to put Manitoba up 2-0. On a power play opportunity, Schroeder tipped in Lawrence Nycholat's shot from the point at 1:52, and Clark buried Tom Maxwell's rebound from the right doorstep at 6:25.

A scoreless middle frame was dominated by the Griffins, but their 18 shots in the stanza were not enough to solve Schneider.

In the final 20 minutes, the Moose used a five-on-three power play to build a 3-0 lead. From the top of the right circle, Nycholat ripped a slap shot into the top right corner of the net at the 11:23 mark. Then Schroeder scored his second power play goal of the night at 19:28 to seal a Manitoba victory.

Daniel Larsson made 24 saves in net for Grand Rapids.

Three Stars: 1. MTB Schneider (38 saves); 2. MTB Schroeder (2 goals); 3. MTB Clark (1 goal).
