Soo Greyhounds News Release

The Soo Greyhounds Hockey Club announced this afternoon that the contract of GM Dave Torrie will not be renewed and that he has been relieved of his duties effective immediately.

"We would like to thank Dave for his work ethic over the past eight years. He was totally committed to striving for the success of the team, however, we believe that it is in the best interest of the club to take a new direction in our move towards a championship. We wish Dave all the success in the future" stated Hounds President and Chairman of the Board Dr. Lou Lukenda.

The organization will now move forward immediately with examining applications for the General Manager's position with the goal of hiring the best available person to lead the team and work with in choosing the best available coaching.

"After an independent investigation of our scouting, it is clear that our Chief Scout Mike MacFarlane is among the best in the league and he will continue to prepare us for the upcoming draft. In the meantime we will take whatever time is needed to find the most qualified person to lead the Greyhounds to a championship' concluded Lukenda

The 2011 OHL Priority Selection is set for Saturday, May 7th and the Greyhounds will hold the 3rd overall selection.
