Pittsburgh Riverhounds SC News Release

CHESTER, Pa. - Pittsburgh Riverhounds SC (0-1-2) tied Bethlehem Steel FC (1-2-1), 2-2, on Saturday at Talen Energy Stadium.

Match Report

The Hounds potted an early goal courtesy of Kevin Kerr in the 4th minute before Bethlehem took a 2-1 lead at the half. Joe Greenspan posted the second-half equalizer in the 60th minute.

"We need more possession," head coach Bob Lilley said. "They set out to play very direct and they used their pace. We have to have the composure to keep the ball and make them chase. Early in the second half, we did that and we limited their chances. We scored the goal to tie it, but as the half went on we went back to rushing."

First Half

It was a high-scoring first half in Chester, Pennsylvania.

It all began in the 4th minute with the Black and Gold. Fielding a pass from defender Ryan James, Kerr booted in the early goal for the Hounds from the right side of the penalty box to give the team a 1-0 advantage.

Bethlehem then responded with two goals to go up 2-1 at the half. Heading a cross from outside of the 18-yard box from Issa Rayyan, Faris Pemi Moumbagna beat goalkeeper Kyle Morton from the edge of the six-yard box. Steel FC later added another tally, as Michee Ngalina blasted a hard shot from outside of the penalty area into the top right-hand corner.

Pittsburgh was awarded a penalty kick in first-half stoppage time after a Bethlehem hand ball. Kerr's chance was saved by Carlos, who correctly guessed to his right.

Second Half

The Hounds notched their equalizer in the second half.

Taking a corner kick for Pittsburgh in the 60th minute, Kenardo Forbes sent the ball across the six-yard box. Leaping to the sky, Greenspan headed it home past Carlos to knot the score at 2-2.

Perhaps Bethlehem's best chance in the second half came during the 84th minute on a run from Faris inside the penalty area. Although Morton stoned the chance, and the score remained 2-2 until the final whistle.

Hound of the Match

With his goal in addition to posting a game-high five chances created, Kevin Kerr helped lead the way to the Hounds' point.

Stat of the Game

Kevin Kerr posted his 25th career goal with the Hounds. This ranks tied for fourth most (with Rob Vincent) all-time in club history.
