Austin Bold FC Opens Bold Stadium in Style

AUSTIN, Texas - In front of a sellout crowd of 5,803 fans, Austin Bold FC (1-1-1) defeated San Antonio FC (0-3-1), 1-0, to collect the first win in club history.

Striker Kléber notched his second goal of the season, burying the ball after defender Sean McFarlane deflected a corner kick toward the back post.

The Bold had several chances prior to Kléber's 77th-minute effort, but had trouble capitalizing. Midfielder Xavier Báez narrowly just missed on a pair of opportunities, including a shot in the 12th minute from inside the goal area that sailed wide of the left post.

Midfielder Valeri Saramutin had a solid chance to score the go-ahead goal in the 73rd minute with a shot from outside the box, but the ball sailed high and wide.

Diego Restrepo picked up his second clean sheet of the season, placing him in a tie for second in the league. The clean sheet was also the 18th of his USL Championship career, the 20th-most in league history.

ABFC will returns to the pitch on Saturday, April 6 with a contest in Sacramento, Calif. against Republic FC. Kickoff is slated for 9:30 p.m. CT and the match can be viewed digitally on ESPN+.
