Reno 1868 FC News Release
RENO, Nev. - Stoppage time proved to be the difference in Reno 1868 FC's fourth match of the season against OKC Energy FC Saturday night.
After being up 3-1 in the 91st minute, OKC Energy FC scored two goals in stoppage time to rob Reno of the three points it seemed like they had in the bag.
Reno's three-goal run began with the one and only Brian Brown in the 29th minute assisted by 17-year-old Gilbert Fuentes. After holding OKC Energy FC off for the remainder of the half, Reno was up 1-0 when the whistle blew at the 45th minute.
The goals continued quickly in the second half starting in the 51st minute when Duke Lacroix found Seth Casiple on a through ball and Casiple found the back of the net with a right-footed finish to the far post.
Just six minutes later, Sam Gleadle finished a through ball by Corey Hertzog, scoring his first professional goal of his career in the 57th minute.
Reno's 3-0 lead came to an end when OKC Energy FC scored in the 72nd minute. Oklahoma City completed their comeback with two more goals in the 92nd and 94th minutes.
"We just have to learn from it, we got to close out games," head coach Ian Russell said. "That's twice this year we've done it so we've basically given away 4 points which is a big deal."
Next weekend, Reno travels to Salt Lake City to take on Real Monarchs SLC on Saturday April 6. The team is on the road for one more week and will return home on April 20 to host New Mexico United. For tickets, visit Reno1868FC.com or the Greater Nevada Field ticket office.
