Soo Greyhounds News Release
The Soo Greyhounds and Guelph Storm completed a trade earlier this morning involving three players.
The trade sees the Hounds acquire 2nd-year LW Brandon Biggers along with a conditional 5th round pick in the 2008 OHL priority selection in exchange for LD Trevor Solomon and RW Grant McGee.
Biggers, a native of Sarnia, Ontario, is currently in his 2nd season in the OHL. He was originally drafted in the 5th round of the 2004 draft by the London Knights.
In 58 games played in 2005/2006 for the Storm, Brandon grabbed 4 goals, 8 assists and 91 penalty minutes. So far this season he has 1 assist in 11 games.
The newest Hound is expected to be in the line-up on Friday night when the Hounds host the Belleville Bulls at 7:30 p.m.
LALONDE INJURY
On Monday evening Hounds LW Jacob Lalonde received a lower-body injury during practice.
While participating in a routine drill, the 2nd-year forward had his left Achilles tendon severed by a skate.
Jacob underwent surgery to repair the tendon on early Tuesday morning and it has been estimated that he will be out of the line-up for 12 to 14 weeks. He will remain with the team during this time to continue his schooling while going through rehab with the team athletic therapist and team doctors.
