Hounds beat Oilers 6-3 and earn fans free big mac's

YOUNGSTOWN, OHIO - The Youngstown SteelHounds overcame a 3-2 deficit by scoring four third period goals to defeat the Tulsa Oilers 6-3 on Friday night. The Hounds are now 20-8-1 (41 points) and remain in first place in the Northeast Division.

Tulsa struck first as Lucas Burnett scored his first of two goals on the night at 6:01 to make it 1-0. Mark Johnson recorded his second of the season just 1:52 later to tie the game at one. The Oilers were able to take the lead back before the first intermission as L.P. Martin beat Brad Roberts at 16:20 to make it 2-1 Tulsa after one period.

Youngstown tied it up on a power play goal by Petr Pohl from Jeff Alcombrack at 7:51 of the second period. Pohl had two goals and Alcombrack had two assists on the evening. Youngstown was 1-5 on the power play while the Oilers were 0-4. Lucas Burnett answered for Tulsa with his ninth goal of the season at 11:25 to give the Oilers a 3-2 lead after two periods. Former Hound Jeff Christian recorded an assist to extend his point streak to 12 games.

The third period belonged to the SteelHounds as they rifled off four unanswered goals to skate off with a 6-3 victory. Mark Odut was able to go up high on Clint Chalmers at 7:53 to tie the game at three. Chris Richards put the Hounds up for good with his 12th goal of the season at 12:26. Petr Pohl added on with his 15th of the year and Joel Irving tacked on his 12th of the season with less than two minutes to play to round out the scoring. Brad Roberts made 17 saves on 20 shots to pick up his third straight win.

Youngstown improves to 6-2-0 at home and has won four straight at the Chevrolet Centre. The SteelHounds are now 20-8-1 (41 points) and remain in first place in the Northeast Division. Tulsa drops to 8-17-3 (19 points) and are still in fourth place in the Northwest Division.

The six goals scored by the Hounds guarantees the fans in attendance free Big Mac's from McDonalds. It is the second time in three games that the fans have won free Big Mac's. The Hounds and Oilers will finish off the series on Saturday night at 7:05 with it being "70's Night" at the Chevrolet Centre.
