Bowling Green Hot Rods News Release
(Bowling Green, KY) - The Bowling Green Hot Rods, Class A affiliate of the Tampa Bay Rays, released the first installment of their 2009 promotional schedule on Monday. The 2009 schedule features giveaways to commemorate the Hot Rods' inaugural season, youth‐themed promotions on select Sundays, and a series of post‐game fireworks shows. The Hot Rods will play their first home game on Friday, April 17 at 7:05 PM, with Opening Night Fireworks after the game presented by Citizens First Bank.
"We're excited to introduce the first ever set of Hot Rods game day promotions," said Hot Rods General Manager and CEO Brad Taylor. "Minor League Baseball is about family fun and making memories, and the first set of promotions is just the beginning."
Fans will have the opportunity on select dates to receive popular giveaway items including T‐shirts, bucket hats, baseballs, stadium replicas, and team card sets. Many of the team's youth‐themed giveaways, including Hot Rods savings banks, "Back‐to‐School" backpacks, and inflatable mascots, will occur on Sunday afternoons. And after every Sunday game, weather permitting, kids will have the opportunity to run around the bases.
Two special highlights of the 2009 promotional calendar are "Fans Choice" T‐Shirt Night (June 20) and the team's first ever Scout Night Sleepover (July 11). On "Fans Choice" T‐Shirt Night, the first 1,000 fans (ages 13 & up) in attendance will receive a Hot Rods tee featuring a design selected by the fans through online polling. Polling will take place during the weeks leading up to the game. The Hot Rods' Scout Night Sleepover will offer youth scouts a special opportunity to watch the game and then camp overnight in the outfield. The first 1,000 fans in attendance that night will receive a Glow‐in‐the‐ Dark Hot Rods Baseball and campers will be able to watch a family movie on the stadium video board following the game.
The Hot Rods will also honor students who excel in and out of the classroom this season on Coca‐Cola Most Improved Student Nights (April 20, April 28, and May 11), Scholar‐Athlete Night (April 21), and Music Awards Night (May 12). In addition to these student impact programs, area schools can attend the Hot Rods' Education Day games on April 29 and August 31. These specially scheduled games begin at 11:05 AM, and the Hot Rods will offer special lesson plans for educators so baseball can be used to teach relevant topics in mathematics, social studies, language arts, and science across a variety of grade levels.
Group outings, season tickets and multi‐game ticket packages are now available by calling the Hot Rods' Administrative Office at (270) 901‐2121 or by visiting www.bghotrods.com. Opening Night, presented by Citizens First Bank, is scheduled for Friday, April 17, 2009 against the Kannapolis Intimidators, Single‐A affiliate of the Chicago White Sox.
