Rome, GA - The Bowling Green Hot Rods rolled past the Rome Braves Tuesday night 10-6 before 2,571 fans to take game one of a four game series.
The Hot Rods pushed two runs across the plate in the first inning on a two RBI double by Kyeong Kang. They added another in the second on Anthony Scelfo's RBI single for the 3-1 score. It became 6-0 in the fourth thanks to a solo home run by John Mollicone (2) and a two run shot by Tim Beckham (4). Another RBI double in the fifth inning by Mollicone and an RBI single by Kang in the sixth gave Bowling Green a commanding 8-0 lead.
Rome made it 8-1 game in the bottom of the sixth as Chris Shehan had an RBI single. Bowling Green added two runs in the seventh for the 10-1 score on a two run homer by Mollicone (3) who went 4-5 with four RBI on the night.
The Braves continued to battle and chalked up two runs in the seventh on Shayne Moody's RBI double and another crossing the plate on a fielding error closing the gap to 10-3.
Rome never quit and scored three more runs in the ninth but Bowling Green held on for the 10-6 victory. Joseph Cruz earns the win (3-3) while Randall Delgado gets the loss (1-7)
