Bakersfield Condors News Release

Bakersfield, Calif. – Shawn Byram, Christian Skoryna and Jeff Goldie each extended point scoring streaks by recording three points apiece, as the Bakersfield Condors handed the Long Beach Ice Dogs a 6-2 loss on Friday night in front of 7,590 fans at Centennial Garden. It was the ninth largest crowd in franchise history.

The Ice Dogs played strong out of the gate, while goaltender Kevin St. Pierre played strong to keep the game scoreless through much of the opening frame. Paul Rosebush, playing in his first game since suffering a concussion on February 7th, made a nice play to reach around Long Beach goaltender Mike Buzak with one hand and tuck home his 12th of the season. The first period ended 1-0.

The teams exchanged goals in the second period, just 29 seconds apart to make it a 2-1 game. Mike Barrie finished off a breakaway for his 13th of the season at 10:32, and Byram tallied his 17th of the year to extend his point streak to 15 games. Goldie's assist gave him a point in 14 consecutive games, while Skoryna's helper pushed him to 11 straight. The shots on goal were 28-17 in favor of Bakersfield.

Bakersfield broke the game open with four goals in the third period. Jason Ralph tallied his first of the night just 33 seconds into the period, while Byram added his second of the night at 3:04 and Goldie scored his 19th of the year at 5:09. With the score 5-1, Long Beach called a time out to settle things down, and chipped in with a goal of their own moments later. Long Beach leading scorer Jamie O'Leary notched his 13th of the season to cut the lead to 5-2. With just 1:25 remaining in the game, and the Condors shorthanded, Ralph fired home his second of the night, from his own blue line, into the empty net to seal the win. He now leads the league with five shorthanded goals.

The Condors failed to gain ground on second place San Diego, however, as they came from behind late to take a 2-1 win in Fresno. The Aces impressed tonight during the debut of new Head Coach Perry Florio by shutting out the Idaho Steelheads 2-0 in Anchorage.

Bakersfield hosts the Ice Dogs again on Saturday night, in a 7:00pm start. The first 2,000 children 12 and under will receive a Condors Metal Lunch Pail, sponsored by KGET-TV 17, Mercedes-Benz of Bakersfield and Subway.

Individual tickets can be purchased at the Centennial Garden box office, by calling Ticketmaster at 322-2525, online at ticketmaster.com or stopping by any Ticketmaster location. Season and group tickets may be purchased by calling 324-PUCK (7825) or by visiting the Condors office next to Centennial Garden. The box office will open at 10:00am on Sunday morning.
