
Hosmer and Thomas Lead RiverKings in Win

SOUTHAVEN, Miss. -- Todd Hosmer and Leo Thomas each tallied a pair of goals as the Mississippi RiverKings (15-8-2) knocked off the Fayetteville FireAntz (11-9-2) in their first meeting of the season 5-4.
Fayetteville got the scoring started early in the first period when Kyle McNeil ripped a shot over Matt Krahn that gave the FireAntz a 1-0 lead 5:51 into the period. Todd Hosmer answered with his 21st goal of the season from Leo Thomas and Matt Whitehead to tie the game at one.
The teams then traded a pair of goals in the final seven minutes of the first. Corey Tamblyn buried a Nick Craven through the legs of Krahn on the power play to give the 'Antz a 2-1 lead 13:46 into the first. Then Brandon Greenside gave the visitors a two-goal advantage with a power play goal of his own two minutes later. The RiverKings countered with a pair of goals off deflections in front of Peter Skoggard. Devin Mantha deflected a Matt Smyth shot around Skoggard to bring the RiverKings within one before Thomas collected his first goal of the evening with 8.8 seconds remaining in the period to tie the game at three heading into the first intermission.
In the second, Fayetteville regained their lead. Matt Ridley slid the puck past Krahn off a rebound at the 6:53 mark of the second to give the 'Antz the lead heading into the second intermission.
The RiverKings took control back in the third. Todd Hosmer ripped a wrist shot off the glove of Skoggard to tie the game at four, 4:22 into the third. Then Leo Thomas found the back of the net with just over two minutes remaining in the third as the RiverKings snapped a two-game losing streak at home with a 5-4 win over the FireAntz.
Matt Krahn (8-2-2) took the win after stopping 40 of 44 shots against. Peter Skoggard (5-3-2) stopped 31 of 36 shots against in the loss.
