Horne & Carter Home Runs Power Jackets to 6-5 Win

North Augusta, SC - The GreenJackets were shutout through 5.2 innings. Bryson Horne and Willie Carter changed that in a hurry.
The pair hit back-to-back home runs to tie the game. The GreenJackets scored four more times in the seventh to take the series opener over the Columbia Fireflies (Kansas City Royals) by a final of 6-5 on Tuesday. Jake McSteen earned his second win of the year in his SRP Park debut.
He tossed seven innings of baseball, allowing only two runs. It was the longest outing of the year for any GreenJackets starting pitcher.
Adrian Alcantara was brilliant for Columbia. He'd toss five innings of shutout ball before Luis De Avila allowed the home runs in the sixth. Juan Carlos Negret hit his eighth home run of the season to give Columbia a 1-0 lead in the second. They'd add a run on a Gage Hughes sacrifice fly in the third.
In the seventh, with the scored even at two, Jose Bermudez bunted for a hit to score Stephen Paolini from third base. Columbia elected to intentionally walk Cade Bunnell. made Columbia pay with a double scoring two. Augusta led 5-2.
The Jackets added one last run in the seventh on a Bryson Horne sacrifice fly.
Horne ended his night 2-for-3 with two RBIs.
Columbia wouldn't go quietly. They'd score three times in the eighth off Gabriel Rodriguez. Ben Dum got the last out of the inning to keep the Jackets in front,
In the ninth, Dum retired the side for his second save of his professional career. Augusta snaps a three game skid and improves to 14-11 at SRP Park this year.
NOTES:
Bryson Horne has hit five home runs in his last eight games.
Willie Carter's home run was his first since May 29th. That home run was also against Columbia.
Ben Dum has not allowed a run in his last three outings (4.0 innings)
