Corpus Christi Hooks News Release

FARING FAIR UP NORTH - The Hooks will conclude their current road trip today with a 7:05 pm game against the Arkansas Travelers. Mitch Talbot (1-2, 3.86) will take the mound for the Hooks against Arkansas' Rafael Rodriguez (0-1, 10.38). With a win on Wednesday, the Hooks will conclude their journey north with a 4-2 record. The Hooks took one of two in Springfield last weekend. The series was scheduled for three games, but Mother Nature had other intentions and limited the action to two games.

NEIGHBORHOOD CHAMPIONS - Have you ever thought that our local heroes need a bit more recognition? Well, here's your chance to do just that. Minor League Baseball, Bank of America and the Corpus Christi Hooks are proud to present "Neighborhood Champions." Through this unique program, fans have the opportunity to nominate teachers, police officers, firefighters, and healthcare workers who demonstrate higher standards and make a difference everyday in our community.

If your nominee is selected as a Neighborhood Champion they will be recognized on the field during a Hooks home game, get to throw out a first pitch, receive a Neighborhood Champion plaque and return later in the season for recognition with other nominees. Nominees are also awarded tickets for both their individual recognition and the group ceremony.

To download the Neighborhood Champions nomination form, visit the Fan Zone at cchooks.com or click on the following link: http://www.cchooks.com/fanzone/na/ .

ALL NEW MERCHANDISE! - The Hooks' official retail store, Hook, Line and Sinker, has just gotten a little better with the recent addition of new Hooks merchandise. Hook, Line and Sinker has increased their selection and now offers a variety of over twenty t-shirts, twenty caps, and a brand new line of girl specific gear. Stop by and check out the some of the newest hot items such as the Sammy doll and pink Hooks pennants.

FIELD OF DREAMS - June 6th is the deadline on nominations for this fantastic opportunity. For those who don't know, Field of Dreams is a new initiative, created by the Hooks, designed to enhance the quality and use of youth league baseball and softball facilities throughout the area. This year, the Hooks will select a needing field and completely upgrade the playing surface under the supervision of award-winning Whataburger Field Superintendent Brad Detmore.

If you know of a deserving field and wish to nominate it for the Field of Dreams, contact Elisa Macias at (361) 561-HOOK.

SEASON TICKET HOLDERS - Just a reminder, the May 24th game against Wichita (12:05 pm) will be our End of School Baseball Blast. Due to the amount of children (approx. 4,000) that will be attending the Wednesday game, we ask that all season ticket holders who will not be in attendance please return the form sent to them as soon as possible so we can properly manage the seating for this exiting event. If you did not receive a form, or if you have any questions please call the Hooks Ticket Office at (361) 561-HOOK.

CALLING ALL GROUPS - With only eight games remaining in May, ticket selection is limited and going fast. Those interested in a party or group outing at the ballpark should contact the Hooks by calling (361) 561-HOOK and ask about our two new group areas: Club 407 (groups of 20-30) and the Power Alley (50+).

The Hooks' May 16th and 23rd games fall on a Tuesday, and as always, every Tuesday is "Half-Price Group Night" at Whataburger Field where groups of 20+ can purchase reserved seats for only $4.50. Call now and don't miss out on this fantastic deal.

RYAN-SANDERS BASEBALL SCHOOL - The first session of the Ryan-Sanders Baseball School is less than a month away. WHATA-WEEKEND - The Hooks will be back in action at Whataburger Field this Friday when the boys battle the Midland RockHounds for first place in the Texas League South Division in a five-game series. This will be the team's second meeting of the year. In April, the Hooks traveled to Midland where they dropped the first two games, but came through with three consecutive wins.

The action on the field won't be the only thing exciting going on this weekend. Friday's 7:05 pm game will be followed by "Friday Fireworks," presented by Bud Light.

Saturday is sure to bring the collectors to the stadium as Craig Biggio Figurines will be handed out to the first 2,500 fans thanks to Coastal Bend Chevy Dealers. Gates open for Friday and Saturday's game at 5:30 pm.

Sunday's festivities and giveaways are sure to be some of the best ever at Whataburger Field as Driscoll Children's Hospital will be out at Kieschnick's Korner for "Kids' Day." On hand will be entertainment galore as a clown, face painting, mariachis and goodies will be offered to the kiddies prior to and throughout the 2:05 pm game versus Midland. Upon entrance, kids 12 & under will receive glow-in-the-dark Hooks light switch covers, also courtesy of Driscoll Children's Hopsital.

Moms, we didn't forget about you and your special day as the Corpus Christi Hooks have teamed up with H-E-B to offer roses to all mothers in attendance on Sunday. Driscoll Children's Hospital will also offer massages during Sunday's Game at Kieschnick's Korner. Gates open at 12:30 pm.
