Tulsa Drillers News Release


The Tulsa Drillers will host the Arkansas Travelers (Los Angeles Angels) in a 5-game series at Drillers Stadium May 13-16. It will be the first visit to Tulsa this season for the Drillers North Division rivals.

The series will begin with a doubleheader on Saturday, May 13. The doubleheader will consist of two 7-inning games with game one starting at 6:05PM. On Sunday, May 14, the teams will play an afternoon game beginning at 2:05PM. The final two games of the series on May 15 and 16 will have starting times of 7:05PM

The promotion schedule for the homestand will include Drillers Beach Towels and Mascot Night on Saturday. The Sunday afternoon game will feature Hats Off To Mom Day with the first 500 moms receiving pink Drillers caps in honor of Mother's Day. In addition, the Drillers will wear special pink jerseys. Fans will have the chance to purchase the game-worn jerseys in a special silent auction with proceeds benefiting the Komen Foundation. The homestand will conclude with Reasor's Free Ticket Night on Tuesday, May 16.

The Drillers and Travelers played a 5-game series in Little Rock earlier this season with Tulsa sweeping all five games. Tulsa outscored Arkansas 37-19 in the set.

Overall, the Drillers are 9-6 at home this season, while the Travelers have played better on the road than at home. The Travs are under .500 at Ray Winder Field, but they are 9-7 on the road.

The Arkansas roster includes shortstop Brandon Wood. The 21-year-old is rated by many as one of the top prospects in Minor League Baseball after hitting 43 home runs in the Class A California League last year. During this season, he has been among the Texas League leaders in both homers and runs batted.

Tickets for all games in the homestand, and any other game this season, are now available in person at the Drillers Stadium Ticket Office or over the telephone by calling (918) 744-5901. Tickets are also available over the Internet at TULSADRILLERS.COM. Purchasing tickets over the Internet allows you the convenience and flexibility of choosing your exact seat locations 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

NOTES: Pitcher Judd Songster has been placed on the disabled list and pitcher Matt Daley has joined the Drillers from Class A Modesto. . . . .Shortstop Troy Tulowitzki hit .391 during Tulsa's last homestand. He had 9 hits during the six games, including his first 2 homers of the year. . . . OF Jordan Czarniecki has reached base safely in all 15 Drillers home games this season. . . . .The Drillers are the only team in the Texas League with a complete game from a pitcher, and they have two. Juan Morillo went the full 7 innings in an 8-3 win over Frisco in the first game of a DH on April 30. Steven Register went the distance on May 4 in a DH loss at Frisco. . . . .Drillers Stadium will host the annual Bedlam Game between the OSU Cowboys and the OU Sooners on Friday, May 12 at 7:05PM. The first 1,500 fans of all ages will receive a large Drillers beach towel compliments of the Local Dodge Dealers and The News on 6.

MASCOT NIGHT

Hornsby and several of his friends will be on-hand to entertain fans of all ages throughout the evening.

HATS OFF TO MOMS DAY

Treat Mom to a Mother's Day at Drillers Stadium! The first 500 moms will receive a pink Drillers cap courtesy of the Susan G. Komen Foundation and 92.9 KBEZ. In addition, all Drillers players will wear pink jerseys during the game. Fans will have the chance to purchase the game-worn jerseys in a silent auction, with proceeds going to the Komen Foundation. Each player will even autograph their jersey!

TODD HELTON BOBBLEHEAD TOOTHBRUSH HOLDERS

The first 150 kids, ages 14 and under, will receive a unique toothbrush holder that features a bobblehead doll of Colorado Rockies first baseman Todd Helton

YOUTH CLINIC

All youth baseball and softball teams and players can obtain free admission for the game and a pre-game clinic and autograph session on the field with the Drillers players. The clinic will begin at 12:15 p.m. and is presented by Walgreen's, Velocity Sports Performance, Tulsa's WB and the Eastern Oklahoma Orthopedic Center (EOOC).

FAMILY DAY

Fans can get discounted admission for all of their immediate family members courtesy of 94.1 The Sound and the Tulsa World. Coupons that provide a $2.00 discount on each ticket purchased are available in Sunday's Sports section of the Tulsa World.

KIDS RUN THE BASES

After the game, all kids will have the opportunity to go on the field and run the Drillers Stadium bases. All runners will receive a certificate for a free kid's meal at Chili's.

LADIES NIGHT

The first 1,000 ladies will receive coupons redeemable at the stadium for discounts on food & beverage items. In addition, ladies can get free nail care and massages on the stadium concourse.

REASOR'S FREE TICKET NIGHT

Fans can obtain free general admission tickets at any Reasor's location compliments of Reasor's and the Drillers.
